  1. YES! We took a virtual field trip to China! We learned about the foods they ate and the don’t of just greeting one another. Here in the US we shake hands, there, they bow their head down and up again. They really enjoyed it that they are asking where will we be going next!

  2. I live in Southern California so when we discuss autumn and the color of the leaves we virtually visit other parts of the country that have leaves that change into those beautiful colors.

  3. I had to make a virtual field trip for a class I took and then I had to show it at my daycare. We went to the zoo. I had pictures of the animals and facts about them.

  4. Every year, I read a book called Subway to my preschoolers. Then, we rode the NYC subway (in Maryland) via YouTube. There’s a cool video with the right perspective which made it fun. Sometimes I added a trip on a roller coaster at the end.

  5. We do Christmas around the World and link it to videos of the country and customs. I guess it’s kinda like that.

  6. My students took a digital field trip of stopping at state and national parks to see how they were formed. It was an amazing experience for their travels.

  7. I think virtual field trips are the bomb! I’ve done the White House, countries around the world during the holiday season, Plymouth Village, the Mayflower…..even the Titanic! It’s a great learning tool for history or book studies( love using them when we do The Magic Tree House Literacy Circles). Many of my kiddos don’t travel far from our community. Virtual Field trips give them access to the world!….did I mention space too!?!?!

  8. We do virtual field trips to the zoo and aquarium all the time!! Less stress and the children can spend as much time at each exhibit as they would like!

  9. Yes, we have taken a virtual field trip. We read the book From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg. We took a virtual tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It was fabulous!!

  10. Sort of… we used a nearpod virtual trip to a college but it only showed one place on the campus. I would love to try another one.

  11. No, I haven’t, but I’ve definitely thought about it. As a media specialist, I’d like to partner up with another school and have my students “visit” their pen pals. I’d also love for them to explore locations we cannot easily access.

  12. My classes have went on a virtual field trip to Plimoth Plantation for the past few years. It is a great opportunity for them to see what life was like for the Pilgrims.

  13. Gee, I wish I have been on those kinds of field trips. Maybe it’s something to start since the cost of any transportation is becoming unaffordable.

  14. Yes, when we do Christmas Around the World we visit a country on each continent. It is an amazing few weeks. The kids learn so much and we have an awesome time. It’s my favorite part of the year.

  15. Yes! I have taken my students on virtual field trips to The San Diego Zoo and The American Indian Museum in Washington DC. They love it, especially since we live in an extremely rural town in Northern Montana. 🙂

  16. We take a lot of virtual field trips. The Zoo, a horse farm, a doctor’s office, a construction site. The list goes on! Most are from VPK Kidvision on YouTube.

  17. We went to Disneyland. My students each decorated their chairs that we set up in front of the Smartboard and took a tour. A couple weeks before I had been at Disneyland and got Mickey Mouse autograph for all my students. When Mickey came out on screen signing autographs I gave each student his autograph. It was amazing to watch my students with autism ask question about what we saw and then afterwards want to write Mickey a thank you card for his autograph.

  18. No, but right now I have a reading group that is reading Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl. I would like to take them on a virtual field trip of the Anne Frank museum.

  19. Yes! It was awesome! We took a virtual White House and U.S. Capitol tour! The students were engaged and loved it!

  20. Yes I was with our fourth grade class in their classroom as we visited a settlement camp for Pilgrims in Boston through the web. We all felt like we were there as they showed us their homes, and cooking demos, then they ate their “Thanksgiving Meal” and the students and both of us teachers knew we hit a homeroom, figuratively speaking.

  21. Sounds very interesting. Would love to give it a try. The closest thing to a virtual tour was video chatting with an author.
