  2. I love How Weather Works! I am incorporating a lot of science into the school day, and the pictures and pop-ups will really catch the kiddos’ attention and make it more realistic for them to comprehend! What a great book! I’d love to have it in my classroom!! 🙂

  3. I love the weather book. I do a weather science unit in my 1st grade class. I am going to try the Smartmath program. It looks very interesting:)
    Thanks!!

  4. I just graduated with my teaching degree and looking to build up my classroom. How Weather Works would be a great addition to my Science curriculum.

  5. The Treasure Bay stuff for sure. Its so funny I had asked for information due to your blog. Guess what was here when the mail came. You are right the Treasure Bay samples and order forms. Everything looks great and I can’t wait to get permission from the board to do this. Thanks Karen for the info.

  6. I would be very interested in the student publishing because my children did that at their previous schools and I love having them as a keepsake. I think it is a great idea so that the parents can see how the child’s writing has changed over the years.

I also like the Idea Book. I help people with setting up homeschool curriculum for their kids and this would is a great resource to share with them.

  7. I would be interested in the Candlewick Press publication of How the Weather Works. We do a year long project on the weather and the seasons, and this would be a nice reference for the unit. Thanks for all the great info and freebies!!

  8. We would LOVE to have How Weather Works up here in North Dakota where we have two seasons: Cold and colder!
Maybe some budding scientist will in the future, develop a system to improve our winters! I’d also like to have
my students writing more as the year progresses. Thanks so much for your Freebies/ideas!

  9. I would like to use the publishing site. Recently I’ve incorporated more technology and this is a great way to get kids to write. I also signed up for the idea book and have visited their website. Great stuff! Thanks!

  10. I would love to win the book on weather! The weather is easy to discuss but for some students to truly understand what happens when the weather changes, it is difficult because they cannot see it.

  11. My students struggle with creativity and writing, so I would love to be able to offer them the opportunity to write and publish their own work! I would also like to incorporate the math program into my curriculum and daily computer rotation.

My students are about to begin a unit on weather, so the book on How the Weather Works would be so beneficial!!! I hope I win so I can share this wonderful resource with my students!

  12. I like the looks of the book “How the Weather Works” and pop-ups are fun for first graders. I will also check out the ‘Rithmetic program; we’re not thrilled with our math series and are always looking for supplements. Thanks for the info and freebies!

  13. When I was in college my professor had us create a children’s book using math in the everyday world. Then as a gift to us she had them published and they looked amazing. So here at our school, several teachers got together to order from a student publishing website. Our 7th grade wrote an autobiography and had theirs published. They all turned out amazing! It gives you a sense of pride when you get to see your work and words typed up and made to look official. I know the kids really enjoyed it!

  14. My students really enjoy computer activities and programs. It is hard to find some which truly have educational value. I will have to look in to the Britannica program.

The weather book looks fascinating! Pop ups always enliven a book.

  15. After 16 years of teaching, I still get some of my best ideas from the Mailbox magazines. I love to take an idea created for younger kids and adapt it for my middle schoolers. They love the fun we have.

  16. Gosh, I love it all! I plan on checking out the SmartMath program. I work as a parapro with 1st graders. I take them out and work on their areas of concerns. I think they would really enjoy this program. We have many reading computer programs, but no math programs. After school, I am a K-2 tutor. I am always looking for some fun ways to encourage learning. My after school kids (and my 1st graders!) would get a kick out of creating their own storybook. They love reading. I teach at a low social-economically school district. They would be thrilled to create their own storybook!

  17. I think that the Smartmath program looks like fun, and I like the idea that it spans over so many grade levels, which would really help special education teachers such as myself.
