Have you ever heard of the golden toad? What about the Japanese river otter? These creatures are now extinct, and countless other creatures—such as Asian elephants, Ganges dolphins, purple frogs, and speartooth sharks—are endangered. A new book series from Lerner Publications Lightning Bolt Books, “Endangered and Extinct,” tells the tales of these creatures and shows students how everyday actions affect the animals. Scroll down to comment on this week’s blog post. One lucky teacher will win a set of five books from this series! In your comment, tell us which of this weeks’ freebies and favorite offers look good to you. Submit your comment by 11:59 pm EDT on Monday, April 7, 2014, to be entered in our random drawing. Teaching about animals is one theme which I use a part of my theme based curriculuM These books would enhance my curriculum and an added resource. Plus they are linked to the common core standards.
