I’m currently renovating my house. So to save money, I decided to do part of the renovations myself. I’ve scraped popcorn ceilings, removed wallpaper, sanded and painted cabinetry, and a variety of other jobs that make me value having someone come in to do the work for me. Despite being tired of the process, I value having the tools and knowledge to complete a variety of tasks. Check out the activities below that help students develop their skills. You might have a future contractor, builder, or do-it-yourselfer in your classroom (and if not, everyone should know how to hammer a nail or measure for blinds).
Students develop hand-eye coordination at this hammering center.
Which measuring tool will do the job? Students decide with this activity sheet.
