Don’t you hate when you just miss something? One hundred free tickets and you’re number 101, last yogurt in your favorite flavor and the person ahead of scoops it off the shelf, a lottery ticket that’s off by one digit—well, drat!
As I work on Learning magazine, sometimes I have those “just missed it!” moments when I find one more really great contest or giveaway—and it’s too late to get it into the issue. But this blog gives me a chance to make those “just missed it!” moments into “better late than never!” moments. And that’s what we’re featuring this week.
Plus, our prize this week is a fun book about a can’t-miss event. Bear Goes Sugaring (Neal Porter Books) follows bear and her smartypants companions, Squirrel and Dog, through every step of the maple sugaring process, which typically happens during a narrow window between mid-February and early March. For your chance to win the book, submit a comment to this blog by Thursday, February 27, and let us know your vote on maple syrup: love it or hate it? One lucky teacher will be randomly selected to win! Congratulations to our lucky winner Linda H!
The clock is ticking, so here are those goodies I promised:
Win an author visit for your school! Shannon Messenger, author of the Keeper of the Lost Cities series, will visit one lucky school; the winner will also get a classroom set of books, a swag bag, and more. Enter by February 29 at keeperofthelostcities.com/schoolsweeps.
The Presidential Awards for Math and Science Teaching honor science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computer science teachers in grades K–6. Nominations close on March 1, 2020. Experience STEM on a real farm, with ranchers, veterinarians, researchers, and nutritionists. The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture On the Farm STEM program includes free registration, hotel accommodations, meals, educational materials, and up to $650 to travel to Nashville, TN, in July. Get all of the details at onthefarmstem.com; applications are due by March 6.
No offense to Bear, but I have to vote “no thank you” on maple syrup. It’s just too sticky for me.
