A Back-to-School Bonanza

Learning magazine’s Back-to-School issue is in the mail, and it’s packed with fun offers, fabulous products, and LOTS of prizes to win. Here’s a quick preview of some of my favorite items from the issue:

Have your students met Sid the Science Kid? If not, here’s their chance! Our Back-to-School issue features a bright and colorful poster of Sid and friends, plus a chance to WIN DVDs from NCircle Entertainment. To download a copy of the poster as a PDF, click here. To enter the contest, send a photo of your favorite classroom project to [email protected]. The contest starts on August 1; details for entering are featured on the back of the poster. Fifty classrooms will win!!!
Here’s another chance to WIN! One teacher and one parent will each win a 50-book set of the popular I Can Read! books PLUS a $100 gift certificate for books and magazines from The Mailbox. For more than 50 years, the I Can Read! series has helped beginning readers build confidence and learn to love reading with characters like Amelia Bedelia, Biscuit, and Frog and Toad. You can also download the I Can Read! fan club membership kit and sign up for newsletters that target your students’ reading level. It’s all at www.icanread.com. The contest ends September 22, 2009.
Speaking of Amelia Bedelia, be sure to get the free teacher’s guide for the new book, Amelia Bedelia’s First Day of School. Students will laugh and learn with Amelia as she hops on the bus and glues herself to her classroom seat—all quite literally! The guide is at www.ameliabedeliabooks.com.
In September, make plans to celebrate National Curiosity Day with everyone’s favorite monkey, Curious George. Download a free event kit, which includes games and activities, decorating ideas, and much more. Choose a date for your event and you’re all set! Kits are available at www.curiousgeorge.com.

Don’t stop there—we have plenty more freebies and fabulous offers in this issue. Click here to continue exploring. Enjoy!
