We all have our little traumas in life. For example, I grew up as a brown-bag kid. The first time I forgot my lunch? It was a day that became a painful memory etched deep in my soul.
It was a Friday. The pizza wasn’t so much bad per se, as it was simply not pizza. It was warm bread with tomato paste and something incoherently referred to as cheese. But the embarrassment at walking through the line, not knowing what to do, what to ask for, or how to properly pay? Woe is me.
As a teacher, there were times when I decided to order hot lunch from the cafeteria. And on a few occasions, it was not a mistake. If you ask me, working in a school cafeteria must be a thankless job.
As today is National Spaghetti Day, and pasta remains a school lunch staple, let us celebrate our school cafeterias! Share your favorite school cafeteria meal or your favorite school cafeteria story. Enjoy your lunchtime.
