Did you send home a summer reading list? Or did you just gently remind students of the importance of reading? Now’s the perfect time to share some great reading resources with students’ families. A fresh infusion of free and fun options might be just what the teacher ordered.
Submit a comment to this blog to let us know one book that you hope your students read this summer. One lucky teacher will be randomly selected to win a sunny selection of refreshing new books: The Little Ice Cream Truck (Henry Holt), What the Ladybug Heard Next (Henry Holt), and Can We Go to the Sea? (Starberry Books). Send your comment by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, to have a chance to win.
We have some great reading-related treats for you, take a look:

I hope my students will read – The Hundred Dresses. By Eleanor Estes.
It’s a book about compassion and caring.
Any Beverly Cleary, Roald Dahl, or Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Time of Wonder by Robert McCloskey
I don’t really care what my students read over the summer, as long as they are reading and enjoying it! 🙂
I would love for my students to read anything, although I came across the book, Wordy Birdy by Tammi Sauer. Would love for them to read this book!!
I hope they read whatever book makes them love reading!
I agree with Sandra ~ as long as they’re reading ~ I’m happy!
I hope my students read Dr. Seuss books this summer.
I would love to read “What the ladybug heard”….we have been bug hunting and I am Ladybug Childcare after all…lol
I hope my students read any book that will keep them interested in and excited to read!
I hope my students read any book that makes them happy and want to read more books.
Any book that they like just read and hopefully the parents will read to them too
I hope my students read Just In Case You Ever Wonder by Max Lucado. Sweetest book ever!
I hope my students read at least one book they’ve already read and at least one book that’s new to them. Equal parts comfort and adventure.
My dream would be for them to read one book in at least 5 different genres.
I just encourage them to read/or have parents read to them. There are so many good books out there, they can’t go wrong with any of them!
I agree with everyone. I hope my students will read and read more like I am doing this summer but now that they are mostly independent readers, Junie B. Jones which they love to hear read aloud would be my choice.
Many of my students do not have books at home so I always send them off with a couple that I have purchased for them. My hope is that they will read those and share them with other family members.
I would like my students to read anything!
I am just getting started with the online format of The Mailbox.
