One lucky teacher will win two books to wind down the school year and look ahead to the adventures of summer vacation. In Lizzie and the Last Day of School, Lizzie is dismayed when the best school year ever ends. Can summer school be the answer for both Lizzie and her teacher? Then in Rufus Goes to Sea, Rufus dreams of being a pirate during summer vacation. However, this adventure-seeking, book-loving pig must prove he’s pirate material first.  (Update: congratulations to Nicole, who is the winner of our prize.)

  1. Lizzie and the Last Day of School is my choice because the last day is like a circus every year. We all run as fast as we can to complete all required activities. This last day can be very confusing for my class because they are wondering where do we go from here? What do we do this summer to improve?

  2. My favorite find was the Studies Weekly. I had never heard of this one before, but I have now requested some free samples to see what I think. I like to use Scholastic, Weekly Reader, etc, but every few years I find it good to switch them up with something new!

  3. I LOVE Chu! He’s a favorite with our preschoolers and at the library! Today was our last day of school so if we can’t head to the beach at least we can read about it!

  4. I’m a conference geek so learning about new ones that are relevant to what I’m trying to focus on for next year in the classroom are even better and get my geek heart fluttering! This literacy conference sounds like it’s right up my alley. Next year, I’ll be switching from 2nd to 4th and need all the help I can get to increase the rigor and expectations in English Language Arts. Thanks for the wonderful info!
