Where Should You Teach?

If you’re looking for the most financially stable place to teach, where should you go? The answer is (drumroll, please)…Columbus, Ohio! Who knew? And the worst place financially? Newark, NJ. Check out lists of both the best and worst school districts here.

Of course, we all know that being financially stable doesn’t guarantee a happy teaching job. A supportive administration, terrific coworkers, and positive and involved parents go a long way when it comes to teacher happiness.

I did my teaching in Michigan. Where have you taught?

  1. Always in Michigan. I have been in 2 districts and the Head Start program here through my years of teaching. Where I call home now is a small coop preschool here in my town. I absolutely LOVE it here. Coops are great preschools where parents are involved in every aspect. The kids of course are great. It gives me a great deal of freedom as I am at each board meeting and the parents and membership listen to my ideas and generally are open.
to them. I love it and expect to stay until I retire.
