What would be in the pot at the end of your teaching rainbow? With St. Patrick’s Day next week, I started wondering. Would it be tools to help your students better understand math? Or maybe something to help keep kids healthy so they’re ready to learn? Or, if you’re a lad or lassie after my own heart, maybe some cold, hard cash? Read on. I’ve found some rainbow-worthy opportunities you won’t want to miss!

There could be a pot of gold (cash!) at the end of the rainbow for your middle or high school students. They could win $500, $250, or $100 while you reinforce writing standards. How? Tell them about the International Bipolar Foundation’s annual essay writing contest. About 60 million people worldwide have bipolar disorder—a brain disorder that affects mood, the ability to function, and energy level. The essays should focus on one of three related topics. Get free resources, including a student essay planner and teacher’s guide, to help. Students must submit entries by May 1, 2015. Find out more!

  1. We love Duck Tape in my classroom! We use it to code our readers, journals, etc. We use it for spots to sit. We use it for lines to show where to line up. So many uses and so many colors and patterns to choose from! It is definitely the gold at the end of my happy rainbow! 🙂

  2. I always seem to be using Duck Tape in some way in the classroom. I love the stuff. I also like the Math Vocabulary cards.

  3. My feet would go pitter patter in these rain puddles of my town if my class would win the duct tape prize package. I have 22 kindergarten students and no iPad for them to learn on. If would be marvelous to expose my students to the iPad and use the colorful duct tape to tape my center activities. Teachers have to spend so much for our own monies for supplies for our classrooms. Thank you for considering me. Melissa

  4. What we need more of in education is teaching kids about friendship. Both books you offer would generate some great discussion among my kinders. And who doesn’t love the endless possibilities of duct tape? 🙂

  5. I also am a teacher of Kindergarten and a great fan of Duck Tape! I love all the patterns and colors and possibilities. Thank you for finding all the best contests and resources for us. Karen, you are the best!

  6. Our primary emphasis this year is vocabulary, so the Motivation Math Vocabulary Card Sets would be my first choice.
