When I taught, I couldn’t keep track of the days during summer vacation. Calendar time each morning during the school year is a vivid reminder of the current month, day, and year. So when you take away daily calendar time, I’m totally lost.
I’m pretty good at keeping track of the days working in educational publishing, but I can’t keep track of the months or the seasons. I realize that makes me sound a little addled, but here at The Mailbox we occasionally find ourselves working on a magazine or book that is off season. It’s completely confusing to write a feature on snowmen in June or a beach unit in November. “What month is this?” is not an uncommon question. (By the by, the oddest question I’ve ever asked a fellow editor here at The Mailbox is probably “Does this cookie character look okay in a one-piece bathing suit?” But I digress…)
Do you lose track of the days during the summer? And what are your summer plans?
