To Garden…or Not To Garden

I lingered over the tomato plants during a recent trip to a well-known home improvement store. I love fresh tomatoes, but I don’t have a green thumb. If I don’t kill the plant myself then I suspect my harvest will be picked off by local squirrels and groundhogs. Soon it will be time for me to make a decision: To garden…or not to garden.  Fortunately, you don’t need a green thumb to sing this garden-themed song with your students! Not familiar with the tune? Click here for a refresher. 🙂

The Green Beans Grew All Around
(sung to the tune of “And the Green Grass Grew All Around”)

There was a hole (There was a hole)
In the middle of the ground. (In the middle of the ground.)
The prettiest hole (The prettiest hole)
You ever did see. (You ever did see.)
And the green beans grew all around, all around,
And the green beans grew all around.

Well, in this hole (Well, in this hole)
There was a seed. (There was a seed.)
The prettiest seed (The prettiest seed)
You ever did see. (You ever did see.)
Well, the seed in the hole,
And the hole in the ground,
And the green beans grew all around, all around,
And the green beans grew all around.

Well, from this seed (Well, from this seed)
There came a plant. (There came a plant.)
The prettiest plant (The prettiest plant)
You ever did see. (You ever did see.)
Well, a plant from the seed,
And the seed in the hole,
And the hole in the ground,
And the green beans grew all around, all around
And the green beans grew all around.
