TheMailbox.com Makeover

Have you checked out our updated Web site? Yesterday, TheMailbox.com went from being a great Web site to being a super-duper, gold star, totally awesome, terrifically fantastic Web site! Can you tell I’m just a little excited?

You’ve got to check out My Mailbox. It’s the best ever! Now you can search for and get free ideas on our Web site! Simply enter a skill, topic, or theme in the search box, click the search button, and—bingo!— ideas pop up. The ideas are there for you to view and print for free.

But wait a second! My Mailbox gets even more fabulous: for just 16 cents a day you can have a digital subscription to The Mailbox magazine of your choice and all the magazine’s online extras, plus access to selected ideas and reproducibles from the past ten years of The Mailbox and Teacher’s Helper magazines and The Mailbox Books for your grade level! And you get a shiny new online file cabinet to save and organize your ideas.

Here’s one more fave of mine that you’ve got to see. It’s called The Mailbox Marketplace, and it’s a shopper’s dream! Right now you’ll find six individual shops filled with timely teaching solutions. What do I mean by timely? Well, for the month of July the marketplace features products for back-to-school! And, better yet, the items have been handpicked by The Mailbox editors (who are all former teachers).

So I’ve got a deal for you! Check out the new Web site and tell me what you think by responding to this post by midnight EDT on July 20. Your name will be entered in a drawing for a $20 gift certificate from The Mailbox—a gift certificate good for any offer on our Web site. Now, I’d better wrap up this post before I’m tempted to give away a second gift certificate! Oh, what the heck! Let’s have two lucky winners!

Proud to be a fan of The Mailbox,

Diane

Congrats to our contest winners, Ruth and Bee!

  1. The new look is great! Is the $59.95 price in addition to the price I already pay for my magazine subscriptions, or is there a deal if I subscribe to the magazine?

  2. Ohhh…a shiny new Toolkit–I’m in Literacy Helpers and Math Helpers heaven! And the My Mailbox Files feature is a dream 😀 I’ll never have to wander around looking for programmable documents again!

  3. Nicholas asked a great question! The price of $59.95 includes six free digital issues of The Mailbox Magazine at the level of your choice (a $29.95 value). These issues are the same issues you would receive in the mail. If you’d like to maintain a mailed subscription, too, you can do so at the normal subscription rate.

Please contact the friendly folks in our customer service department if you have any other questions. To reach them call 1-877-696-0825 between 9 AM and 6 PM (EST), Monday through Friday. Or zing them an email at custserv@themailbox.com.

  4. I hate to be the fly in the ointment, wet blanket, etc., but I find the new site to be much more commercial-oriented and less friendly. I closed it out two times and retyped the web address thinking that I couldn’t possibly be in the right place. 🙁

  5. I love THE MAILBOX! It has made my lesson planning so much easier. The website is fabulous, and I can’t wait to check out My Mailbox.

  6. I love the new look. I was impressed with the market place. I have always loved your books but now theproducts. Wow.

  7. Hi…just love the new format! And I can tell how very excited you are about it…it’s contagious! Education is a career change for me & I am close to getting my license & Masters’ in Early Childhood. Love the Mailbox resources…it’s a Godsend for all teachers – new ones & veterans! Thank you for sharing your love of education!

  8. The “My Mailbox Files” is a great idea. So often I’ve seen something only to think I will be able to find it again and then can’t! Now there is a place for it. The toolkit is also nice and handy for those basic needs.

  9. I am absolutely loving the new look of Mailbox. I have always been a big fan and now I’m even a bigger fan! Keep up the great work. Looking forward to discovering more of the exciting changes.

  10. I love my hard copy magazine! Please do NOT take it away! However, I like theidea of an upgrade–maybe I can just add on to my magazine without having to give it up? I wasn’t sure that I was in the Mailbox Magazine Companion at first and I did have to play around with the new format before I got it all figured out, but everything changes. We grow or we stagnate.

  11. I love the idea of the filing cabinet, but am still struggling to find all of my magazine extras. I will continue to work with it, but it seems to discourage the printed magazine. I love my printed magazine. I work in a classroom that has little access to the internet, and it is wonderful to just pull my magazine off the shelf for quick reference.

  12. Love the online file cabinet! I’ve wanted that for years. I have been a longtime subscriber and love the idea of getting the ideas without going through the stacks of magazines. Great Job!!

  13. Love the idea of the online file cabinet. It will make it so much easier to find great ideas and organize them in one location.

  14. This is great. I have shelves of the mailbox and treasure each of them- some issues are missing because people borrow them with out asking and never return. Now that problem is solved with the online storage. Thank you now I will never “misplace” an idea.

The market place is awesome. It is full of products that I did not know I needed but now I want.

Thank you for all that you do.

  15. The new format is so easy to use. I love the tabs for the different sections like the seasonal ideas and the toolkit…makes it so much easier to find things. Once again The Mailbox has helped me find ideas and resources that are fun and grade appropriate. Thank you!!!

  16. WOW! I can’t wait to get a few more minutes to look through everything!! Quick question though – if I subscribe to the website will I still get my hardcopy? Or do I need to do both?

  17. I like the website. I just printed out the forms. They’ll be very helpful this year as I transition from 5th grade to 2nd grade.

  18. I just subscribed to this feature for mailbox mag and love the digital copies of the magazines. I am always looking through them and making notes of how to use it in my preschool classroom. Now I can keep a page open on my computer to take notes and jot down ideas and modifications to make the idea fit with my routines/children and teaching style. Up to this time I would have see so many things to do or try and then get so busy I’ld ‘forget’ where the idea came from or search through 10 years of mailbox mags to find what I was looking for. Love this!! Thank you for this tool. There are many, many creative teachers out there. Kudoos to you too.
