The Glorification of Busy

I was searching for fun posts to share with you on The Mailbox’s Facebook page when I came across this simple little meme. Now, I know you’re busy. (The word busy should automatically be included in the definition of teacher.) And I’m definitely busy too. In fact, there isn’t an adult I know who doesn’t have a million things going on. But I’ll let you in on a little secret—I bring a lot of my busyness on myself. I overschedule myself, and then I complain about it. Yep. And I think this is a fairly common phenomenon.

Our current society seems to think that you aren’t pulling your weight unless you’re running around like a crazy person with bedhead and humongous caffeinated beverage. So for 2015, let’s all take time for ourselves. It’s important to relax and savor life, or it’s going to zoom by way too fast.

What do you do to relax?

  1. Nothing. Seriously. Just sit with my family as we all play on different devices and watch our favorite tv shows. 🙂 I suppose this is the new ‘family time’ as we are all plugged in to something,

  2. Thanks for the encouraging message. I like to read. Two books I read over Christmas break were First Avenue, a murder mystery set in Seattle, and Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.
