Summer Memories and Memory-Makers: Get Back to School With Contests and Freebies!

What did your students learn this summer? The boy in Rules of Summer learns rules from his older brother, who, by the way, is the only one who gets to make them: “Never forget the password.” “Never ask for a reason.” “Never miss the last day of summer.”

Older brother issues? Rules? Summer? Sounds like a springboard for an activity about your own students’ summer memories! Submit a comment to the blog by 11:59 pm EDT Friday, August 8, 2014, to tell me which of the items below are your favorites. Two lucky teachers will each win a copy of this book! 1. Definitely going to check out the aquarium site. The books sounds really cool. Who doesn’t remember the outlandish rules made up by siblings, especially when you are the oldest and the younger ones hang on your every word. Not to say I ever did this:)

  2. Moving to a new school and new grade level. LOVE this blog! I have Mailbox magazines dating back quite a ways. It would be great to add this book to my classroom library. Thanks!

  3. I think the Rules of Summer is going to be a great read aloud and transition book between summer and first day of school.
