Post a picture from a magazine that shows a person. Give each child a speech bubble pattern and have her cut it out and write what the person might be saying. Attach the cutouts around the picture.

Post a picture that relates to a theme being studied in the classroom. You might post a dinosaur, a butterfly, a snowman, or a holiday tree! Give each child a speech bubble pattern and have him cut it out and write (or dictate) from the perspective of the object or critter. Display the cutouts.
