Parent-Teacher Groups

A few nights ago, I joined my best pal for a late dinner. When I saw her, my eyeballs popped. She had come directly from her school’s back-to-school night and her attire was, in my mind, a bit surprising. She wshirtas sporting a bright purple T-shirt with large letters that spelled “Make My Day!”

I said something like, “Wow, you wore THAT to back-to-school night?” She smiled and turned so I could see the back of her shirt. In large letters, it read, “Join PTA!”

Gotta love it! “Make my day! Join PTA!” How does your school encourage parents to participate in its parent-teacher group?

You make my day!

  1. We offer something at each meeting. Last night we had ice cream social. All of the students ate ice cream while their parents listened to the meeting. One month we do cookies and milk. We have a great team of Parents that make it fun!

  2. We had open house one evening last week, and our principal and PTA president talked to the parents about the PTA organization.

We have a few PTA fundraisers throughout the school year. We raise money for every classroom. Last year, we were able to buy new playground equipment with the help of PTA.
