One teacher will win two books that feature something students can really relate to—other kids! School Days Around the World is an informational picture book about what school is like for real children in 14 different countries. Then show your students what it was like for athletic superstars when they were kids in Kid Athletes: True Tales of Childhood From Sports Legends.  (Update: congratulations to Ashly, who is the winner of our prize.)

Looking to their own futures, what world records can your students imagine breaking? Let them tell about it in the Records of the Future Challenge from Guinness World Records. The grand-prize winner will get $750 and be able to nominate a teacher to receive $250 for classroom supplies! Get the details here.

Would you describe preschoolers and grades K–2 students as “smart savers” and “savvy shoppers”? Me neither! At least I wouldn’t have until I saw these free resources in the Upromise, Uplan, Usucceed sweepstakes. They help build a foundation for financial literacy and reinforce Common Core skills. Download them here, and then show off your own financial adeptness and enter for a chance to win $500 for your classroom or to be one of three runners-up to win $100! Click here.

Get ready to stretch your students’ writing. Photo Story for Classrooms is a free iPad app that lets students create self-published books. Here’s what’s special about it: students aren’t simply writing—they use text, photos, audio (think narration), and a feature called Doodles that lets them draw and write on the page. Plus you can download free standards-aligned lesson plans for any grade level. Find out more here.

Help your students succeed in math by helping them develop a strong math vocabulary. Following a systematic approach, Vocabulary Adventure: Student Edition uses critical thinking, problem solving, and journaling activities to enhance the meanings of essential Common Core terms. A teacher guide is included with each set of student editions. Be sure to click on “student sample” to see a sample page for each of grades 1–5. Check it out here.

  1. I love the Shutterfly book, thank you so much for the information. I students will love to create those books in the classroom!

  2. I absolutely love the “School Days Around the World!” at the start of every year I always talk about schools in other countries and show videos I can find on youtube. All in hopes that my students can appreciate how lucky they are to have a classroom with walls and supplies – unlike other schools in other parts of the world. Would love to win this book!
