Are you ready for 2015? I for one have officially made my New Year’s resolution. (I know, I know… I’m a few days early. But my resolution for 2014 was “don’t procrastinate.” It’s not too late to achieve that goal, is it?) In Mimi and Bear in the Snow, Mimi begins a search after Bear disappears in the snow. Penguin in Love knits together a story of two penguins that find each other while unraveling a missing-yarn mystery. Then, in Polar Bear Morning, a polar bear cub and a little snow cub make the story of a first friendship as satisfying as a warm hug.  (Update: congratulations to Kaila, who is the winner of our prize.)

  1. I absolutely love The Snowy Day book and use it to build several lessons every January. My students always enjoy this unit!

  2. I really like the idea of using the Beautiful Oops in my teacher training program. They sometimes forget that they make mistakes that can be turned into something wonderful.

  3. Absolutely love The Snowy Day and cant wait to read it and do the activities in January. I am going to look into the Oops book. Sounds great.

  4. The Beautiful Oops is a wonderful way to remind children that there are no mistakes in art. My kindergarten student once showed me “her” beautiful picture. I asked her if she did it or her mom, I saw her mom make it in class. She said my mom because I can’t do it. I was heartbroken for her.

  5. Beautiful Oops was my favorite on the blog this month. I can think of several ways I can use this book and its guide in lessons for next month. Great concept. I also liked the information from ABCMouse regarding recording books in your own voice. My students will love that. As for Snowy Day, it’s great to read about a new way to incorporate the story into my lessons. It is a must read for this time of year.

  6. Polar Bear Morning looks like a great book I am always looking for a cute winter book that can take me from January to February. First you have the them of polar bears great for science and Social Studies for locating where polar bears live and their habitat followed by a little global warming. Through in a story about friendship and this story can take you from January till mid February.

  7. A Beautiful Oops! is at the top of my to purchase list! Can’t wait to share with the kids and to remind myself that we all make mistakes!

  8. Polar Bear Morning sounds like a book any student would love to listen to. It tells about true friendship. The importance of how a friend is to treat one another. This is a great opportunity for my students to learn about Polar Bears during science. While we learn about habituate. This is a great book for January into February. With the cold weather and Valentine’s Day

  9. “Celebrate Oops!” is comparable to what I tell my students about mistakes: if you make mistakes, you can learn what you can do to avoid making them in the future.
