Love a Good Value? Then You’ll Value This: Character-Building Freebies and Chances to Win!

I love a good value. Who doesn’t love stumbling on a great sale while shopping? (Take me to the clearance rack!) I love it even more when a child shows character values, like kindness, empathy, and respect for others. So I have a little of both for you. I have fabulous classroom freebies that support good values and chances to win prizes that you’ll value!

Submit a comment to the blog by 11:59 pm EST Sunday, November 1, 2015, to tell me what are your favorites when you click on the contests and freebies below. From the comments, I’ll randomly select a teacher to win two books that highlight the value of the right to vote—a perfect tie-in to elections! In Lillian’s Right to Vote (Schwartz & Wade Books), an elderly woman climbs a steep hill to cast a ballot, with each step symbolizing the history of the battle for voting rights. Then Granddaddy’s Turn: A Journey to the Ballot Box (Candlewick Press) is a true-life account of growing up in the segregated south and how the author will never take voting for granted.  (Update: congratulations to R G, who is the winner of our prize.)

  1. I like the Lakeshore Learning gift card giveaway. When I clicked on the link it took me to a page with a lot of contests and giveaways that I was interested in.

    • We always have lots of contests and giveaways going on for teachers. Be sure to check them out! We love giving away prizes!

  2. I am new to your blog and would so enjoy adding to our classroom library. Archway is a private special education school, serving the education needs of Autistic and BD children. Our funds are extremely limited, so the teachers here use their own money to purchase items for their classrooms. Of course we are always on the hunt for specials this yours.
    Thank You for sharing.

  3. I love Jan Brett and look forward to her new and latest book. The two books on voting would be mentor texts for the discussion on equality and rights.

  4. I like Lillian’s Right to Vote, so many of my students and their families don’t realize the struggle so many Americans went through to vote. I think we need to teach more about voting all year not just in November or once every four years.
