It’s Sweater Weather! Bundle Up With Freebies, Chances to Win, and More!

I enjoyed my first snowflakes last weekend. I’m a southern gal now but had traveled north for a few days. Was I thrilled when snow started to fall? You bet! (My northern companions? Not so much.) When the weather cools down, I love to bundle up—whether it’s donning a warm sweater or bundling up perfect-for-teachers freebies and chances to win!

Post a comment to this blog by 11:59 pm EST on December 6, 2015, to tell me which of the freebies and contests below are your favorites. From the comments, I’ll randomly select one lucky teacher to win two books to wrap up with. Sweaterweather & Other Short Stories (First Second) is a new, expanded edition of the original book, with 17 short comics, illustrated essays, and journal entries. Then a young boy wishes winter would never end in Winter’s Child (Templar Books), but what happens when the season doesn’t change?  (Update: congratulations to Karen, who is the winner of our prize.)

  1. Oh my gosh so many wonderful products on the Teachers choice site I can see I need to spend some more time there. Would love to win the books. Happy Thanksgiving Learning Magazine and Karen. Thanks for all you add to our classrooms

  2. LOVE the books, who wouldn’t??? What a great way to stock the classroom library with great seasonal and motivational books to read. Thanks so much for all you do for teacher! Thanksgiving is a great time to tell you how thankful I am for Mailbox …
    Keep up the great work!

  3. I love how easy it was to help out Champions for Kids – took no time at all! As teachers, it seems we are often asking for things we don’t have but this season reminds us to be thankful for the what we do have…amazing students and great resources like this site! Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. Do you know at the University Mall in Burlington, Vermont there was a kiosk selling “Ugly Sweaters”???? Now I have a few sweaters of my own but I have never had a sweater I considered “ugly” and neither do the authors of the book Sweaterweather & Other Short Stories. This winter is supposed to be as cold as last year and the new book Winter’s Child is probably going to be a good read for children this winter. Thank you so much for publishing the blog. Enjoy the holidays and the new year.

  5. I always enjoy finding books to go along with my monthly lesson plan themes. The books would go great with December’s theme Winter Fun.

  6. Children love to read about children doing pranks…they would laugh out loud about doing so with a principal! “Terrible Two Get Worse” would be our choice!

I echo the gratitude expressed for your continuous contributions to education! Thank you!

  7. Learning Magazine selects fantastic books to add to winter reading, “Terrible Two Get Worse”, “Winter’s Child” and “Sweaterweater and Other Stories”.
