I Want to Be Olga

bunnyyogaA couple of weeks back, Olga Kotelko was featured in Parade in my Sunday newspaper. I want to be Olga when I grow up. Olga is a retired school teacher from West Vancouver, Canada. She is 94 years old and still going strong! And I mean going strong. Currently, she is the only woman in the world over 90 still long-jumping and high-jumping competitively.

I’m really not interested in the jumping aspect of Olga’s life—I am interested in how Olga has aged so superbly! Here are her six tips to longevity.

1. Swap the Sudoku for sneakers. Olga didn’t compete in senior track events until she was 77; however, she was always active.

2. Stay on your feet. Teachers, you have this covered!

3. Eat real food. Unfortunately, I did not find a mention of chocolate here.

4. Form routines. Go and do on a regular basis!

5. Cultivate a sense of progress. Find ways to improve yourself and your relationships.

6. Lighten up! Don’t sweat the small stuff. 🙂

 I’m inspired! How about you?

Happily,

Diane
