Hello, Summer! Win a Three-Book Summer Celebration and Find Fabulous Freebies

Memorial Day marks the start of summer, and we have a sunny assortment of books to celebrate!

Here’s how you can win these books: Submit a comment to this blog and share one word that you associate with summer. It can be a place, a thing, a feeling, or a descriptive word; anything goes. Send your comment by June 13 to be included in our random drawing. Good luck!

Here are some great freebies for helping students and families make the most of summer. Share them with students’ families and take advantage of them yourself!

Kids who read eight books can choose a free book from a list at Barnes & Noble. Download a free reading log here so students can track their reading and pick their free book.

Looking for a reading packet to combat the summer slide? Download free reading passages from ReadWorks. Visit readworks.org/summer-reading to get started.

Students can Seuss-ify their summers with the Dr. Seuss Word Challenge. The challenge is all about having kids read as many words as they can and adding them to the Word Counter-Upper. The goal is 250 million words! Join the challenge and get tracking at wordchallenge.seussville.com.

The word that I associate most with summer is promise. Summer holds so much promise for adventure, learning, fun, and freedom. I can’t wait!

Karen
