  1. Back to school preparations for this week – downloading back to school activities/posters, coloring things for the class, cutting out decorations for the room, and organizing things I have bought, and making a list of things I need to buy. Busy, busy, as I am moving rooms again – 4 times in the past 4 years – plus moving grade levels!

  2. I just got back from the school. I am working on my walls and boards. At home I am making name tags and working on new projects for the kiddos.
Last night was the fun fair.
    The rush is on.

  3. I have spent a great deal of my summer break working on curriculum, report card alignment with the CC Standards in parent friendly language and professional development. I find pd to be just what I need to energize myself for a new year! We start back in two weeks!

  4. What am I doing? I am doing what every other teacher is doing. I am trying to get all my classroom supplies at the cheapest prices possible. Today was Dollar Tree, Walmart, Target, online Smilemakers and LTM the Education Place. Actually it was a good day. I got most everything, 144 pencils, 20 boxes of Crayola Crayons, 10 packs of Crayola Markers, 10 packs of Crayola Colored Pencils, 400 index cards 40 composition books, and 60 – 2 prong folders. Then the name tags, scissors, and the beat goes on, or is that and the list goes on.

  5. What am I doing to prepare for a successful year? I am brainstorming what ideas worked with fellow colleagues. I am price comparing items that I annually purchase when going back to school including sending postcards to each new student on my roster.
I have been wanting to start a blog for awhile and was motivated to begin this Teacher Blog once school was out this summer. I will also go ahead and preprint my Letters to Parents which I would like to hand out at the Meet and Greet the day before school starts. I try to jump ahead so that I am not overwhelmed when school starts back.
Last but not least, I try to finish at least one of my summer reads so that I have it to share when I begin Day 1 of teaching the First Twenty Days of School in Reading.

  6. I am shopping the back-to-school sales. I had $47.10 in rewards from Office Depot to spend by 7/31. I gathered up some bargins and some not bargins there. I cannot get into school for at least two more weeks. So I am planning at home.

  7. Shopping for bargains and setting up my classroom! Stumbled onto a cache of books for 1st-3rd grades at Goodwill-seemed to be a teacher’s whole library; in great condition and $0.65 each!!

  8. I am going to be teaching preschool this year. I am excited on getting the classroom decorated and getting all the supplies/materials together to begin the preschool year. I am looking for any info that may help me in setting up.

  9. This book seems like an interesting book to compare and contrast with First Day Jitters. I would develop other activities to make this another must read for my Back to School Library of books.

  10. Open House is Monday, so all this week I have been organizing, cleaning, laminating, etc. Why does there never seem to be enough time?

  11. This book Nona is Nervous, is a perfect book to add to my first days teaching first grade. They are so nervous about being away from their mommies.
