Now I’m eager to get back to the business of finding all the best teaching freebies and resources for you, and I’m thinking it’s time to give a shout-out to science and social studies (plus info about other free resources that I can’t resist sharing)!

Submit a comment to the blog by 11:59 pm EST Sunday, January 18, 2015, to tell me which of the items below are your favorites. One lucky teacher will win my copy of Try This! 50 Fun Experiments for the Mad Scientist in You and the DVD Coretta Scott.
Perfect for science fair inspiration, Try This! is filled with engaging, kid-friendly experiments—from toothbrush robots to making your hands glow in the dark to training crickets. Each project has step-by-step instructions and STEM connections. 1. I like the Gingerbread for liberty. It looks like a book children of all ages might like to read or have someone read it to them.

  2. I have to go with the Smile Train, because it brings a service component that makes learning about other cultures more meaningful- AND it promotes tolerance!

  3. I would love The Good Question, as I am always telling my students all questions are good. We are studying the Civil War and they are full of questions. All your books are interesting and being from a poor school we are always looking for a good deal.
    Thank you
    Joyce Gauvin

  4. I am teaching the kiddos the differences between fiction and non-fiction so The One and Only Ivan sure interests me.
The kiddos would love the Try this book for my enrichment class
