Fun With Haiku

April is National Poetry Month. Poetry can be difficult for children to create. It’s tough to wrap your brain around a form of literature that emphasizes expression and a distinct feeling of rhythm. (What?!) That’s why haiku is a lovely way to ease children into poetry. It’s simple–and it’s fun! See my morning haiku above. I still don’t have any doughnuts, but I certainly enjoyed creating a haiku about my lack of fried pastries.

Go here to get the excellent haiku frame I’m using in this photo.

And check out this spring haiku worksheet!

But don’t stop there! See all of our excellent poetry resources to help you out.

Happy National Poetry Month!
