From Ballerina to Author

“I wanted to be a ballerina. I changed my mind.” This quote from Beverly Cleary, the beloved author of the Ramona Quimby books, makes me smile. I’m quite certain Ms. Cleary would have been a lovely ballerina, but boy would we have missed out on some fabulous storytelling! April 12 is Ms. Cleary’s 99th birthday. It is also National D.E.A.R Day, a day on which families are encouraged to “Drop Everything and Read” together for 30 minutes. No matter how busy my day gets, I’m determined to find 30 minutes of quality reading time on April 12. How about you?

Love to read!

Diane

  1. I have always loved to read. I hope to instill this love of reading with my pre school special needs students. I have always enjoyed Beverly Cleary’s books and try to have my class hear many stories on or this year around her birthday. Her birthday is also my birthday!!
