First Friday of 2014!

Happy New Year, y’all! Here’s wishing each of you the best in 2014! I just took a peek at January celebrations and its seems as if they’re a bit scarce. This year, Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be celebrated on Monday, January 20. It’s National Soup Month—now that makes my stomach growl! Oh, and today January 3, is actually Fruitcake Toss Day, in case you care to celebrate. These are the celebrations that caught my eye. There are others of course. What about your 100th day of school? When does this special day occur for you and your kiddos?

To enter this month’s giveaway tell us the month in which your 100th day of school occurs. The winner of this month’s drawing may choose to receive a free book or eBook from The Mailbox along with a seasonal surprise from me! Just be sure to leave your comment on this blog before midnight Sunday, January 12, ET.

Welcoming 2014 with a smile!

Congratulations to Lisa! She’s the winner of January’s First Friday Giveaway!

  1. My kiddos come part time so not until April for 4 year and May for 3 year.
But thats ok I make up celebrations as I go along. LOL. Maybe we will do fruitcake toss day this year.

  2. Our 100th Day is on January 17th! Even though I have 5th graders this year, I still plan on doing some special stuff with them! 🙂

  3. Guess for somebody any old day is! Seldom holidays or days off no ryhme or reason to when in the year they start. We should celebrate 365 days! Must be Friday I’m tired

  4. My 100th day is mid-February.
George Washington Carver died on January 5, 1943 and was born sometime in 1864. I do a peanut day the first week of January as my kindergartners learn about G. W. Carver and his research of peanuts, sweet potatoes, and nutrition. I use styrofoam instead of real peanuts for counting, spelling, and active games when somebody in my building has peanut allergies,

  5. Our 100th day should originally have been on Friday, January 23rd, but due to 4 snow days so far, we are now to Jan. 29th and it may keep moving with the freezing temps expected again tomorrow.
