Do You Prefer the Positive?

I don’t know about you, but my Facebook feed is pretty much filled with two kinds of blogs, articles, and memes.positive

  1. Negative, snarky content

  2. Positive, inspiring, and funny content

And never is this more true when I see content about teachers. I see lots of items that make me smile or say, “Yay, teachers!” or make me feel hopeful and positive. Then I see items that make me feel hopeless and frustrated and a little bitter, to be honest. Now I’m not saying that we should ignore reality and live in some fabulous world full of unicorns, rainbows, and newborn puppies. But it’s been theorized that negative thinking affects people in a variety of, well, negative ways.

For example:

  1. Negative thinking can prevent you from seeing possibilities in your life. When you’re focused on the negative, it’s tough to see beyond your own disappointment and anger.

  2. Negative thinking can affect your health. It can cause stress. Stress can cause heart attacks. Heart attacks are bad.

  3. Negative thinking can affect our relationships with our friends and family. Negativity isn’t compatable with love and contentment.

Anyhoodle, I’m rambling about this today because I try my best to be positive with my posts for The Mailbox. I think there’s a lot to be positive about! So, instead of seeing the meme in the middle of this page from me, you’re more likely to see the top meme from me. Now take a deep breath and think about some happy things.

  1. We do need to be more positive. Yes there is alot of bad in the world and on media. But there is lots of good in the world we just need to put it out there more. Totally agree with you Kim not a unicorn person but I prefer to think of the good hearted people and parents who help those of us who work in education and do little things that make this world a better place.
