Dive In to Great Opportunities for Teachers! Plus Win a Book!

My family recently took a “yikes, school is starting soon!” mini vacation to the Georgia Aquarium, and now I have the ocean and its fantastic creatures on my mind. So when I picked up Peanut Butter and Jellyfish, it made me giggle. These two best friends help preschoolers and kindergartners explore themes of friendship, kindness, bullying, and acceptance while swimming in their ocean home. Submit a comment to the blog by 11:59 pm EDT Sunday, September 21, 2014, to tell me which of the items below are your favorites. One lucky teacher will win this book! Now about the Georgia Aquarium. Let me just say, it was unlike any other aquarium I’ve ever visited. The moment we walked through the doors, I sensed the vibrancy. My younger daughter loved, loved, loved the dolphins! My older daughter just adored the penguins and the weedy sea dragon, which was the subject of a school report a few years ago. Me? I’m an otter girl, and I was not at all disappointed. Everyone was mesmerized by the Ocean Voyager tank, complete with whale sharks, manta rays (the only ones in a US aquarium), and literally thousands of fish swimming overhead.

With my trip still fresh in mind, I don’t want you to miss your chance to win a trip for four to this amazing destination. The prize includes airfare, lodging, aquarium tickets, an animal encounter, and a $250 Visa gift card for spending money! One teacher will win; four teachers will each win an aquarium tote filled with goodies plus a $25 Amazon gift card. Just by going to TheMailbox.com/toptalent, you can bring a bit of the aquarium to your classroom with free videos, activities, worksheets, and reading passages featuring the animal talent at the aquarium! 1. I would love the 4 round trip tickets to the Georgia Aquarium.

I would love to take my students there on a special field trip. That would motivate them to work twice as hard in school.

  2. Mathematics Lessons learned from Around the World is my pick because I love math. Too many people can’t add and subtract and get cheated out of their money daily.

  3. Oh my that Peanut Butter and Jellyfish book sounds great. I need to go in the hunt for it! I have a whole ocean theme in my classroom right now “Diving into Learning”

  4. I like both books, but Peanut butter and Jellyfish has very unique characters. The math around the world intrigues me, as a teacher

  5. Hands down, Peanut Butter and Jelly is my wish-choice. My kinder-bears need to hear about positive relationships as often as they can. They love the Piggie and Elephant books. I know they would get stuck on the sweetness of this book. In fact, I’ll bet they’ll go nuts.

  6. Lily is my favorite!! I would love to win the new book. I didn’t know there was one out!! My kids love the Lilly doll in my classroom and would love to have Lilly read her new book!!

  7. WOW! The trip to the Georgia Aquarium sounds like an exciting ocean experience!!!!
I LOVE reading stories to my preschoolers- We LOVE Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse so I am sure we would enjoy Lilly’s Big Day too! 🙂

  8. I’d love to take my three-year-old daughter to the aquarium! We will also definitely read the new Lilly book together. She loves Lilly’s Chocolate Heart!

  9. Oh my, everyone loves Lilly, but I am a big fan of the math ideas. I think adding an international flavor would make it more engaging for the teachers and the students.

  10. I love using picture books in my classroom to convey messages about kindness, love, and other cooperative skills. Peanut Butter and Jellyfish looks like just the book I would like to share with my little friends!

  11. I am an otter girl, too!!
I am going to check out Peanut Butter and Jellyfish. It sounds like it would be a great addition to Rainbow Fish for friendship lessons with a beachy theme at the beginning of the year.

  12. “Mathematics Lessons Learned from Across the World” would have the highest educational value to me because identifying what it is that other countries do for school instruction would perhaps enable us to understand how to improve our mathematics curriculum.
