When I got my very first teaching job, I walked into my classroom, and everything was stacked in a huge jumble. There was, of course, no evidence of how the teacher before me had arranged things. And I was a bit clueless. So I spent a good amount of time moving tables and desks and shelves this way and that way and muttering to myself. By the time I got everything in a satisfying arrangement, I needed a good shower.
I have to say that I did not think outside the box when arranging my room. But I was new to the whole teaching thing, and I could barely get my head wrapped around being in charge of a classroom full of five-year-olds. Unique and innovative room arrangement just wasn’t an option at the time.

How do you arrange your classroom?
As a pre-k teacher, I do not have a desk. No need for one. I sit at a kidney shaped table with my students. So does my aide. It works out well.
