Celebrate Bus Drivers

Next Tuesday, April 24, is School Bus Drivers’ Day. I actually found several days that celebrate bus drivers–and I’m all for it. Bus drivers deserve our appreciation. I have no idea how they do what they do. I would probably lose my mind. My grandfather was a bus driver and he had that unique combination of sternness, authority, caring, and concern that’s necessary for the job.

How should you and your students celebrate bus drivers? I’m suggesting a big thank you and one of these heartfelt crafts:

Have students make this craft, omitting “School Bus,” and writing “Thank you,” instead. Have students wear this when they board the bus at the end of the school day.

Print a copy of this pattern for each bus driver and cut out the patterns. Write on each bus, “Thank you for all that you do!”  Then have youngsters sign the buses. Give each driver this unique thank you card at the end of the school day.
