Bulletin Board Blues?

Let’s be honest, bulletin boards take forever to create. Forever! And they take even longer for those of us who get picky about bubbles in the paper or slightly crooked letters. Yeah, that’s me. I’m one of those picky bulletin board people. But I love the end result and the oohs and aahs of the parents. Plus students love to see their work displayed!

Considering how long it takes to make a bulletin board, I’ve come up with three criteria for bulletin boards that I suspect you share.

  1. The display must be reasonably simple to create. No complex drawing and cutting. Who has time for that?!

  2. The display must be creative and fun. Otherwise, what’s the point!

  3. The display must involve student projects that cover an important skill. We all know that teachers have a lot to cover!

batboardDo you agree? Considering my three criteria, here is my top bulletin board for fall/Halloween. These simple bat crafts can house any desired writing assignment, such as a summary of Stellaluna by Janell Cannon, bat facts, or bat-themed creative writing. For little ones, you can have them dictate what they know about bats. Staple up bulletin board paper, dollar-store leaf garland, and the bats. Voila! Then rake in the compliments. 🙂
