Address Labels

Yesterday in the mail, I received a colorful pack of address labels from an organization seeking a donation. The labels are adorable! And yet, I already have several similar packs in my mail basket. How can I possibly use all these labels? (I know; I could toss them. Sigh. That just feels so wasteful!)

At work, I use the labels to identify my personal copies of books and magazines. I have an address label on my stapler, my tape dispenser, and anything else that I might leave lying about. I’ve considered slapping an address label on my reading glasses too, but most of my colleagues recognize my “lost” spectacles right away. 🙂

At home, I use the labels on correspondence, and that’s about it.

What do you do with the address labels you receive in the mail? Does anyone use the labels (or pictures from the labels) at a center or for an art project? I have plenty, and I’ll share!

Cheerfully,

Diane

  1. I also use them to label my books. They always spell my name wrong but it’s close enough that it doesn’t bother me.

  2. I cut off the picture part of the address label and sort the pictures by theme – pets, celebrations, ocean life, etc. I store them in sandwich bags & then put them out in my creativity center for the students to use to make collages.

  3. I label all my books and tools as well as my quilting tools with them.
I also cut off the pictures and let the kids use them to collage. I use name mats that the kids sit on during circle. I give them a theme related sticker at the end of circle and have used the labels with my name cut off that fit the theme.

  4. Those things seem to multiply in the drawer. I usually end up cutting off the misspelled name and using the pictures in the art center. My class loves stickers.

  5. I keep some in my wallet. When I’m filling out a form that asks for name and address, I just use one of them. ie: the Dr. office, store reward cards applications. It saves me time and helps the clerk entering the information.

  6. I work at a preschool, and i use the labels to label cubbies and the hooks to hang the childrens stuff on. Its really helpful for me and the parents.

  7. I make sticker books for the kids at the beginning of the year (for good behavior). These make great stickers to put in these books. Th kids love to count how many stickers they have in their books. I never throw away freebies.

  8. Thanks to everyone for sharing the different ways you use your labels. I learned some new uses for my labels. (Nancy, your idea rocks!) And, thanks to Maria, I found a home for my extra stickers too! Happy day!
