Does your school principal bake cookies? I’m pretty sure I’d never eaten a principal-baked cookie until yesterday morning. Oh, yum! Andy, the principal of a local elementary school (and married to Sammie Gann, who recently joined our editorial staff), baked a batch of the most delicious oatmeal cookies just for us! The cookies arrived a few minutes before eight, and this photo was taken midmorning. Needless to say, the cookies were a huge hit. I wonder if Andy’s staff knows he’s a closet baker? :)

This has me wondering about the hidden talents of all educators. Do you sing, play a musical instrument, craft, skate, tie a mean fishing lure? What hidden talents do you have? Please share! I must have one, but I’ll have to get back to you on that!

Happy Friday!
Diane

Educators have come under fire a lot lately. It’s nice to hear about educators who really care about their students. I know there are a lot of them, but we just don’t hear about them very often.

I can figure skate. I wish there were a rink down here in South Texas where I could take my students!

When we get to our Winter Unit, I always show them a short skating video, and I put on my skates and walk around the room. The kids then take turns trying them on. ;)

I am a quilter. Every dew years I make a quilt and put the kids handprints on it to auction off to raise money for the school.

I love to sing so my student join me in silly songs. I love that my principal loves to dance. I think he actually looks forward to doing “the worm” once our students have reached our school wide reading goals each year.

Not sure what mine are - I think there is alot that I do that - not so much take for granted - but things that I have always done and it’s just me! I think one of my favorite things is the staff at my preschool calls me MacGuyver - cause I try to fix or make just about anything!
