Gadzooks! It’s a Giveaway!
Posted by Diane Badden on 12 Sep 2012 | Posted in: Drawings and Giveaways, Teachers and Teaching
I just came from a meeting, and how I wish you could have listened in! We were talking about how much we love getting mail from you! We enjoy helping you share your success and passion as a teacher.
When you send in your ideas, we currently give you a $20 gift certificate for each one we purchase. You can use it toward any book or magazine from The Mailbox. You can submit ideas online, mail or fax them in, or respond to idea requests that we post on blogs and Facebook. So for this giveaway, we’re asking you this:
|
What more can we do or what can we do differently to get your ideas flowing into our mailbox? |
Let me know your answer to this question before midnight, Monday, September 17, and I’ll enter you in a giveaway for two (yes, that’s two) free books or kits from The Mailbox.
Oh, I can’t wait to hear from you!
Diane
PS: If you want to get started sending your ideas in right away, click here!
Congratulations to Angie! She’s the winner of our giveaway and wins two free book from The Mailbox!

I would love to see more ideas with students with ADHD.There is a growing population of these students in our classrooms.
Ask us questions! I have never submitted an idea to you but I have to other sites when they have asked for a specific type of idea. Sometimes when I have so much on my mind, I don’t think about submitting an idea unless someone reminds me with a question. I also love the idea of gift certificates for ideas. I know every teacher could use a few extra bucks to spend on her/his kiddos!
I’m an AIG (Academically and Intellectually Gifted) Facilitator and I would love to see ideas for specialists. Perhaps even a special edition for K-5 Teachers for special education, gifted education, music, technology, and possibly even physically education. A lot of these teachers don’t find your publications relevant because it’s not specific towards their instructional needs. (Even if it’s not a full magazine it would be great to include such information in a special section of one of your current magazines.) Personally, I love The Mailbox and I would love to share your resources with all teachers and not just the core teachers.
Love the idea of an online gift certificate.
I think it would be helpful to have an email reminder of specific topics for the helpful hints. Sometimes I get too busy and forget to check the website and an email would get me going again.
Love the book of the month idea and an area where we could request specific ideas.
Keep up the great work:)
Good Morning,
I think it would be helpful to have more strategic intervention ideas/suggestions. Anything to do with supporting students and teachers!
I also like the idea from others about requesting ideas specific to a topic.
Emily’s idea of a book of the month really appeals to me as well.
Finally, I’d be interested in ideas/suggestions that relate to the Common Core.

I love the idea of on-line gift certificates!
I am one of your regular contributors and earning your gift certificates have made all the difference! My shelves have gone from empty to fully stocked with resource books…all for free.
It would be ideal to have an online Mailbox (similar to an online banking account). When an idea is accepted, the money is deposited into my account rather than a paper gift certificate being issued. Then, I could use the money I earned along with my own debit/credit card to make an online purchase.
I would also like to see a VIP program to reward contributors that have had multiple ideas accepted/published. The more you have accepted, the more extras you earn such as free shipping, BOGO offers, etc.
I would also like to use the wonderful gift certifs online. Love your books!
I agree with others in that having a specific topic or theme to respond to helps me think about what I have done that may be helpful to others.
Going along with that, I see that many people talking about ideas for students with special needs. I am a teacher of such students and would love to share ideas, but again, if given a specific topic or theme, I think the answers given would be more helpful for everyone!
I agree with Nichole D. It would be great to be able to use the certificates on line.
Also, many new pre-k curricula have updated themes. Some of these new themes are quite different from what we are used to. A few examples: Learning Together, Art All Around Us, Different Types of Families, Recycling/Being Green, Trying New Things.
I think if you had a place on the website where folks who were interested could receive periodic reminder emails for submissions, that would be good. And then once every few weeks, you could send out an email asking for specific types of ideas.
As teachers, we have lots of great ideas, but we are so busy, we forget to submit them. And with the added direction of a specific activity, our memories will be “jogged.”
I agree with the ESE need. Along with that idea, how about differentiated instruction. Give an idea of how teachers could use it with the different levels in their classroom (above, below and on grade level).
Also, more of an incorporation of the different subjects. For examples, ideas of how to turn a reading topic into something hands on in science.
One other idea, is a book of the month. Focus on a shared reading that the class can read and then have some ideas for that particular book.
