Let’s Share a Laugh!

Don’t you think kids are the easiest people to work with? They will tell you when you have stuff in your teeth or if your shoes look odd to them. They are honest about feeling sad or bored. Sometimes they will hug you for no reason at all. But my favorite thing about kids is that they love to laugh!
Of course, I have to make a confession: I love corny jokes. My nieces are seven and ten years old, respectively. My husband doesn’t like to ride in the car with the three of us because we start telling jokes and we can’t stop. He’s trapped! Here are some of our favorites.
- When is a car not a car? When it turns into a driveway.
- Where does a king keep his armies? In his “sleevies.”
- What happens when a banana gets a sunburn? He starts to peel.
Do you and your kids have a favorite joke or funny moment? I’d love to laugh with you and your students today.
Always leave them laughing—oh, and check your teeth in the mirror before the kids arrive!

A couple of years ago in my 4-year-old Preschool class, we were talking about mosquitos. It all started out when the children were itching their mosquito bites. We talked about how it is the female mosquitos that are the ones that bite. So one little boy started telling us a story about mosquitos in his bedroom. The mosquitos were flying around his bedroom and he could tell that they were “girl” mosquitos. I said, “Well, how could you tell?” He said, “Because they had bows in their hair!” I will NEVER forget that story!
I started to practice for the Preschool Christmas Concert and chose a song that Piggy Backed onto the tune of BINGO. The song was “There is a man with a long white beard and SANTA is his name-o.” After singing, one little girl looked up at me and said, “But teacher, Santa isn’t a dog.” Oh dear!
It’s funny you mentioned shoes. I got a new pair of shoes called five fingers (each toe has it’s own pocket) and the kids certainly noticed. I got a lot of funny looks (they would look at my feet and up at my face and back to my feet) and a few questions as to why my shoes were like that, but only 2 comments. One asked me “why do you have dinosaur feet?” and the other told me I have “frog toes”!
This past week, I talked about the Thanksgiving story with my 3 years old students. I usually tell them the story at first, and then to interact them I start to ask questions which they love to answer. They all want to be the first one who to answer.
I asked them what was the name of the ship, and one of my students clearly and loudly and very proud of her self shouted: “CAULIFLOWER.”
Little moments like that give an extra touch to our fabulous job. I really love what I’m doing and I love the students who come every year. All of them bring their own joy to the classroom.
Happy Thanksgiving!
