Now that you’ve had a chance to read the August/September issue, The Mailbox® magazine editors want to hear what you think! We write the magazine with you and your students in mind, and we want it to be the best it can be—for YOU!
Won’t you take a minute to flip through the issue and let us know what you think? Which ideas and activities have you marked to use with your students? Which ideas will help you as you organize your classroom in the fall? Why? We’d love to hear what’s on your mind.
As you comment, please remember to tell us which grade-level issue you are referring to. The editors are counting on you!

When previewing the mailbox magazine and website with a friend who subscribes I came across a letter identification activity that I thought sounded fun. Now that I subscribe, I can’t find it. I think it was a teacher/reader suggestion in the Aug. Sept. 09 issue. There was a short song/poem to go along with passing letters around the circle. Hope someone can help…thanks
I always love reading The Mailbox magazine and using the ideas. We do a schoolwide theme every year and I can usually use some of the ideas and reproducibles from your magazine, but this year I couldn’t find anything on our theme. I would love it if anyone had ideas for a KEY theme. I think our slogan for this year is going to be something like Learnin is The KEY to Success. I teach Kindergarten, so I can use most ideas. If they are too high for my kids, I try to adapt them. Thanks ahead of time.
I am not a new teacher, but I am new to my grade level this year. I love that I can use my 1st Grade Mailbox magazine for quick, easy and ready to use ideas for my first graders. I also love all of the teacher tips. Many of them have helped me manage my classroom over the years. I have sometimes used them exactly as they are in the magazine, or changed them slightly to fit my needs. Keep publishing great magazines and I will keep reading them!
I love Mailbox for preschool. It is such a great resource. I especially love the online extras. I go through alot of computer ink to make sure I don’t miss anything. Keep up the great work!!!
I absolutely love the Mailbox books. I have them from 1999 and keep referring back to them..
I also can not wait for each new issue to come in the mail. I have used several ideas from the magazines. Because I love all the activities I share the magazine with my sister who also works in daycare. I work with the 2-3 year olds and it is not always easy to find activities for them. The mailbox magazine for preschoolers gives me plenty and I don’t have to do alot of searching for good projects and activities. Keep up the good work.
I love love my mailbox magazine. I can’t wait for each issue to arrive. I get the kindergarten magazine and enjoy reading it cover to cover. I am a ripper so I tear out all the pages and file them away by themes and topics. I love the book activities that goes along with literature. This summer I have worked hard to pull all these sections and place them in a folder with the book and the activities and put them in my theme folders. This way I will have everything right at my fingertips when do a topic and I can include book activities too. This will increase reading skills and the love of literature. The only thing I would change about the magazine is that it would come more often!!!
I have just subscribed to the preschool Mailbox after years of buying them at the school supply store. I got really tired of seeing that little computer sign and not being able to go online for all the extras! I keep all my past issues sorted by month. Each month I pull out that month’s back issues and get my planning done in record time! I especially like the sections that connect books with activities that promote literacy. I’m eagerly awaiting my first issue, but I made sure when I called in the subscription that I got information on how to start using this site! I’m getting ideas from it while awaiting the “snail mail”!
I just absolutely LOVE the ready made center games that come in the 2/3 Mailbox!!!!! I have gone thru my past Mailbox magazines to make copies of these centers because I’m going to be implementing these center games this year. Once my students finish their work - and time is not up for centers - they will be allowed to pick a game to quietly play with a partner until time is up. I would like to see more of these ready made games in future magazines.
I enjoy every edition of the Preschool Mailbox. I already used the color mixing idea:) Quite a few of the color activities are something I will use in the near future
Love the mailbox magazine. Use it when writing my lesson plans for preschool. So many good ideas that fit right in with my plans. Will use the color ideas from the current preschool issue as one of the first skills when go back in Sept.
I love the mailbox magazine. I teach multi grade levels in special education and the primary edition is wonderful because it meets many grade levels without costing a fortune by having to buy different magazines for each level. It has fantastic ideas and makes it easier to the ideas needed to teach.
I LOVE this issue!!!I subscribe to the preschool edition and I just love all the wonderful center ideas. I can never get enough! I can easily adapt many of them to fit 2 year olds. I love the feature on Colors you help make it fun! Thank you, I can’t live W/O this magazine!
Keep up the great job! I always look forward to the next issue. You do a great job with printing ideas that are easy to follow. I love being able to go on-line to get printouts of the ideas and so much more! Keep it up!!! I use the monthly calendar that is on-line to make out my monthly snack calendar for the kids. I’m excited to use some of the ideas when I get back to school.
I have in the past been a subscriber, and have just returned. I am switching grade levels from Kindergarten to Third Grade this year. I loved the “Dog Ate My Homework” mailbox from the 2/3 grade issue.
I have also been wandering around Mailbox companion and am so impressed with all of the resources that are available there!
Thank you for a well-done job!
As a first year teacher I will be needing all the help and ideas I can possibly get my hands on, especially for the intermediate grades. This is my first copy of the mailbox magazine, and I have gone through it, loving all the great center ideas that I can implement in my classroom. It’s great and can’t wait to get started. Thanks mailbox
The August/September 2009 issue for Kindergarten is wonderful. I will be using many, many of the activities/ideas. I loved the Marvelous Learning Mat submitted by Tracy Innes on page 60. Unlike most other states, in California Kinder kids need to recognize and write numbers 0 to 30, rather than the 1-20 on the mat. I added a line below the 1-20 in a similar font, and a zero on the front, and will use this with my students this year. Thanks, Tracy, for the idea, and Mailbox for printing it.
Would it be possible to add a version of this reproducible (computer extras on the website) with the numbers 0-30?
I love all of the Mailbox books. My classroom is the resource for our entire center. I use all the ideas over and over but as all teachers, love to have new ideas.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Mailbox! Not only do I love my monthly issue, but I love all of the curriculum books you have published. I love the tip books, back to school issues, and I could go on and on. I don’t know what I would do without Mailbox!
The Mailbox is an excellent mgazine and has helped me tremendously with my co-op. The Pre-K Author book is totlly awesome. Full of information. Well worth the money to subscribe to this magazine. Thank you all who made this possible.
“Skills In Your Issue” is wonderful. It makes planning so easy and I use every part of the preschool magazine now.
I especially like the “Little Mouse” centerfold…..I have always used this game on the flannel board. My game pieces were looking a bit old, now I will have a new and much more colorful activity for my students.
Thanks!
I love my mailbox. The entire issue is very interesting. I especially like the insert, Little Mouse, Little Mouse. Myra
I have actually been away, just returned. going through the stack of mail I was happy to see my Mailbox issue. I haven’t really gone through it yet, just a quick flip through but I am already excited about what I saw. Will be sitting down next week to start planning for the new school year and you can bet my Mailbox issues will be right by my side!!!!
I love going through the new mailbox, especially during the summer when I have time to think about all the ideas and how I can use them in my classroom during the upcoming year.
I already have ideas on how to use many of the items in the aug/sept preschool edition. I have flagged about 10 different items that I especially am interested in. The exciting part is knowing that when I refer to these ideas I will see something else that will help me create an interesting and exciting lesson.
I have flagged the following ideas:
The feeling cards (Pg17) to use with a headband
The color mixing idea to use with Little Blue and Little Yellow, one of my favorite books!
The assessment sheet (pg 21)
The year round BB (pg29)
The colorful initials on pg 44, as one of my first week activities
The daily attendance activity (pg 47)
I could go on ….
Getting the Mailbox keeps the excitement in my profession!
Thanks
Monica
I have flipped through my preschool issue, and I will tell you, there were some really great ideas! I used the car and gasoline pump reproducibles to put together a welcome door for my students, “We’re Getting Filled Up At Preschool!” I found some great center ideas and getting to know you ideas for my students’ first day. This issue is helping me prepare for my students so when they return, they will have a great time learning. I have even went through some of my older Aug/Sept issues because I feel they can always be used, no matter what year it is. I don’t think I would have been able to come up with some of these tips without the Mailbox!
