It’s a big world out there, and your two-year-olds are eager to learn about it! Trouble is, teachers have told us that finding books with activities for that age group can be tough.

I’m excited to share a great new book just for these little ones! Totally for Twos from The Mailbox® Books is packed with hundreds of simple and fun learning experiences taken from The Mailbox® magazine Preschool edition. Youngsters will build language skills, explore numbers, sing songs, do some art, explore the senses, and so much more!

Here is a quick summertime song from the book and a few sample pages to try out with your class.

A Summer Song

Help children think of all the fun things they can do in the summer heat. Then personalize this song for each child, inviting her to fill in her favorite summertime activity in the third line.

(sung to the tune of “You Are My Sunshine”)

You know it’s summer! Oh, yes, it’s summer!
It gets so bright and hot outside.
But [Erin] loves it, ’cause (s)he [goes swimming].
Oh, in summer we have so much fun!

Once you try them out, please be sure to stop back by and let me know how they worked with your children. If you’ve already purchased this book and have been using it, I’d love your feedback on that too! I hope you find that it is exactly what you have been asking us for!

I am a toddler teacher. I am stuck using Preschool resource books and have to modify everything to make it developmentally appropriate for my age group. I am buying this book right away and REALLY HOPE we get more resources. I would subscribe to the Mailbox Magazine IMMEDIATELY if I found they were offering a Toddler edition.

This is an awesome addition to our resources. Would love to see more resources for toddlers. Would love to have a subscription to a bi-monthly version of PreK mailbox.

Thank you so much for something geared to twos! I have already purchased the book for my preschool and wish there was more for the toddler and twos age group from Mailbox - would love to see a Mailbox magazine devoted to tods and twos; even if it wasn’t published every two months.

I’m glad to see more ideas for use with two-year-old’s. I work with Birth to 5-year-old’s in their homes and am always looking for new and exciting ideas to use with wee ones that will assist development and also be simple and fun for parents to do, too.

This book looks like a perfect addition to our Professional Collection for teachers and for Moms. Thank you!

    This book looks so fun!

I’m a Pre-K teacher by trade moving into being a SAHM with an almost two-year old at home. I really could use this book with him to keep him busy and learning while we are out of the school setting!
Thanks for sharing it with us!

I work at a childcare center and we have many resource books, including the Mailbox books. Most of the books are written for preschool and k through 6th. I have never come across a book specifically for Two’s. This is exciting-I can’t wait to see it!

I am so excited about this book. I bought it today and cannot wait to start using it next week. I love that it is directed at 2 year olds =)

Thank you thank you for coming up with this terrific book “Totally for Twos”. I work with almost all 2 year olds and I needed to adjust my resources to work for them. Now with this book I can just go to a page and I can plan, so much quicker and easier. I have tons of resource books from The Mailbox have been buying for years, thank you for doing just this age group. The kiddos also like it when we sang the song. They already knew the tune and the other words now they would say, “That’s my name in the song.” Thank you for a product.

I am a lead teacher for the Toddler room at work and I usually have to scale down the preschool activities so this “Totally for Two’s book” would be a great addition to my lesson planning resources.

  15. 24 Jul 2009 at 8:35 am 23.  Amanda

The song was a hit! What a great way for my kids to help create the song and have their name appear in it. We’ve been singing it all day =)

Thanks for thinking of the 2’s! I teach 2’s and appreciate any extra help I can get. Thanks a bunch!

Mailbox, I am so excited that you have come up with a book devoted to the 2’s. I LOVE Mailbox - books and magazine - and have taken many ideas from them and adapted them for my 2’s class. Thank you!!

I can’t wait to try this book for my new class of three/two year olds. It’s great to have a separate
book just for this age group.

This looks fabulous! I use the monthly magazines for great ideas in my toddler classroom. I am excited to receive this book! We will be beginning the school year soon so this will come right as we are beginning to plan! Thanks for all the great ideas each and every month!

I run a Daycare with infant and up. I usually keep 10 children every day. I use several of the mailbox
books. I’m thinking about this one. We tried one of the sample pages and the children loved it. Thanks for having sooo many books to choose from.

In my group of children I have 2 through 4. keeping the 2’s busy with something while he other children are doing their work is hard to do. I’m looking forward to testing the book out. I have used many Mailbox books in the past, and they have been great. I’m sure this one will be also. Thanks so much for all your hard work!

I teach 21/2 year olds in a preschool setting, and this book is great!!!I was sooo excited to see The Mailbox had a book specifically for this age group!! I use tons of Mailbox preschool books, and tailor the activities a bit, which work great as well. But this is a great resource to go to when looking for a certain skill activity, and I love the development chart at the beginning! Thank you! Thank you!

I saw the book online and made 3 trips to my local teacher’s store just for this book (it took awhile to hit shelves.) I teach 18-30 months.
I was super-excited to have all these wonderful ideas from the mailbox for the age I was teaching, but was a little disappointed that a bulk of the book seems to be geared toward late 2s. Still, there were some great ideas, and I’m glad to have Totally Twos as part of my collection.

I am starting a mommy and me type of class at my Nursery school this fall for 1 1/2 years to 3’s think I will order this book for some ideas.

  27. 20 Jul 2009 at 8:31 pm 11.  Julie

I agree with one of the other comments– this looks like it would be great for a new/young class of 3’s!

  28. 20 Jul 2009 at 7:34 pm 10.  Stacey

I teach a preschool class of three year olds. The beginning of the school year is the hardest because these kids have never been in a classroom setting before. I was thinking this book might have some great ideas to get us moving along at a pace where we can work to more involved activities?

  29. 20 Jul 2009 at 7:20 pm 9.  Jen

The sample pages look good and I am ordering this book. I am just a parent, not a teacher, but I have purchase your magazine and adapt some of the ideas to fit my little guy who just turned two. This will make it easier for me since I work so that I don’t have to think about adapting, just doing and providing quality developmental fun with my little guy. Thanks.

  30. 20 Jul 2009 at 6:34 pm 8.  Carole

How wonderful that this new book is filled with age appropriate activities for two’s…they are a busy group and keeping them engaged through the day is a challenge. I would often take activities for older children and adjust them as needed….this book sounds like people in the know, at The Mailbox have done all the hard work for me. Now I can just put the activities into play…Thanks as usual. :)

I don’t teach 2 year olds, but I have a 2 year old cousin that I see frequently. I’ve been trying to teach her colors, and now I have other ideas that I can do with her.

Thank you! I am starting a 1 and 2’s room this year and this couldn’t have come at a better time! Thank you so much!

  34. 20 Jul 2009 at 3:56 pm 4.  Trisha

I just received this book Friday and it is wonderful. Having a home child care with varying ages can make it a challenge. This book will be a tremendous help to my group of 2’s. Thank you Mailbox you have done it again.

  35. 20 Jul 2009 at 3:54 pm 3.  Linda

I have taught Kindergarten for 30 years and would like to move to toddlers in a preschool setting. But I was so afraid that I couldn’t find things to do with them. This seems like the perfect book for this setting. I have used so many of Mailbox books and ideas over the years. This is another to add! Thank you so much!!

  36. 20 Jul 2009 at 3:06 pm 2.  Kelly

    Looks like a great book!
