This is a terrible photograph of me. Why, you ask, would I post this unflattering photo on The Mailbox® magazine website where everyone and their brother can see it? There’s a simple explanation. While innocently pumping gas during a rainstorm, I was inadvertently displaying a great dose of workplace pride! That’s my Mailbox sweatshirt I’m wearing, and the gigantic golf umbrella actually has The Mailbox logo plastered on the side. How do you and your youngsters show pride in your school? Do you wear clothing emblazoned with a school mascot? And what is your school mascot? (I find this topic endlessly fascinating because I spent my high school years as a Midland High School Chemic. It’s a long story.) Are there other ways your school promotes school pride? Jot me a message and let me know.

Proud wearer of The Mailbox logo,

Kim Murphy

I have a small preschool and have never been into logos. Even now that I am part of LAUP I don’t really use logos. Our school spirit shows when the kids say they love to come to school. And the parents tell their friends. I guess our school spirit is their mess cloths from painting and digging and have fun.

Our school sells spirit wear in the beginning of the year…tshirts, sweatshirts, PJ pants. The clothes are always black and orange, as our mascot is the tiger. Teachers are always encouraged to wear their spirit wear on spirit days, but we all wear it all the time anyways. This year special staff shirts were also ordered.

we have a school uniform at our school {shorts and polo shirt in summer} and {sweat suit for winter}.both have the school name on them and our mascot who is none other than Snoopy.the kids do not have to wear it on a daily basis ,but only when we have field trips,or special events.we also have tshirts for the teacher and i try to remember to wear it once in a while, and especially when we go trips.

The staff at our school have polo shirts with our school name on them that we can wear whenever we want. Our Preschoolers have shirts with our school name and “Preschool”. Since we are a Catholic school the students wear uniforms every day unless we have a dress-down day. On those days they can wear T-shirts or sweatshirts with the school name on them with jeans. The 8th graders have special jerseys that they wear every day as part of their uniform with the school name on the front and their last name on the back with the year of school they are in. Our school athletic board sells many “spirit wear” items that students and parents may purchase with the school name and mascot, which is, by the way, a Knight.

I know that when we are working in schools as I am a soon to be teacher we are encouraged on Fridays when we have casual day to wear something from the school for school pride. I also know that as an assistant in the room I wore a collared shirt so that the students say that I was a part of the school even though I was not the lead teacher.

yes we have t-shirts to wear as well as things like sweatshirts, sweaters, coffee mugs, bags to carry books and our lunch. I enjoy wearing it because its hows the students that you care. On Fridays we can wear jeans and our school pride clothes and the students are so surprised when they see you wearing it they say ” LOOK WE MATCH”

Yes, we have had T shirts in past with our logo and both teachers and our preschool students were given them. Last year we sold them to the students and did not make any for the parents or teachers:( This year we have no T shirts:(:( I am happy that you reminded me of this wonderful way of school pride as I will mention how much the T shirts are appreciated by students and staff alike. We also have had teacher aprons with pockets and our logo on them in the past, a big hit with the staff. Thanx for reminding me!
