One of the things I hope to do on this Blog is to share some of the great resource books from The Mailbox editors. Of course, I just have to start with one of my favorites—the new Mix & Match Games. Here’s a bit of info. In each book you get 10 pull-out color games and 10 different sets of game cards for practicing 10 different skills. Now the cool part—they are interchangeable! So, you pick the skill that a student needs to practice and then he picks the game that he wants to play on! I’ve put links below to get sample pages for each book. After you give them a look, I’d like to hear what YOU like most about this new series. |

I love this book and the activities inside! Are there any activity books similar to this one for 6th grade students?
All comments are within a three week period 3 years ago. Are there any current comments?
I do not have these yet, but these are the things I like about the Mix and Match games for kdg.: 1) same set of directions for all games so adult volunteer/student time is not wasted figuring out how to play each time 2) cute and colorful artwork 3) math boards can be interchanged with language arts boards
I love these games. They save a lot of time and effort and help make center time easy to set up and productive.
I like this too! My only complaint is that with kindergarten, there is always SOOO much to do to prepare activities for them….I’d love it if they came already cut and laminated and ready to put in their hands! Maybe there could be some options, like buy book, buy the on-line guide, buy it already made, or buy someone to make it for you (just joking).
These books look like great resources! I love that all of the work is already done for you, and teaches such great skills. Thanks for another great time-saver!
I just bought the Mix and match Games for Grade 4- language arts and math! I am excited to use them this school year. They will make great additions to my learning centers and give my students authentic ways to practice their skills! No paper and pencil!!! YAY!!!!
I have the 4th grade math and language arts books. They are a wonderful addition to my classroom. My students loved playing them last year. They were always asking to play them again. I recommend these to any teacher out there.
This looked great! Very wise use of skills and boards–interchangeable!!! Definitely something I will purchase and use in my classroom.
These look pretty interesting. I am assuming that the tasks are at different levels and target different skills. I think having one set of rules, no matter what the skill, helps students to concentrate more on the independent practice– rather than constantly having to figure out how to play something.
One concern I have– I teach K– is that the key is not self checking enough to provide for independent or center time work.
I really like the idea of a book of games. The pages are very colorful and the characters are very appealing to the children. I only wish that the book could be larger so that the game board could be larger.
This looks like a very creative idea! I like the artwork (always do) and how it gives our kids choice. That is very important in every classroom. I do not exactly understand how the task card works though.
